Fifth and final run

More than 200 bikers turned out Sunday for the last run of the CNC3 Fund that has come to the aid of the children from the double murder and suicide on March 16, 2013 in Oakland Beach. Chris Butler and his girlfriend, Carla Bowen, were shot by John Oliveira, who then took his own life. Bowen’s twin boys, Andrew and Zachary, who were in the house, heard shots and were able to get out. Chris left a daughter, Emma. Daniel Mullen, who taught the boys karate and one of the first on the scene, set up a fund to help the kids. He raised funds with a golf tournament, a karate tournament and then joined Butler family efforts to assist Emma with the bike run. Over the years, an estimated $40,000 has been raised with the money going to the kids and to promote awareness of domestic violence. Sunday’s run started in Coventry at the Olde Theater Tavern and made stops at Cady’s Tavern, Tavern on the Hill and ended at the Tri City Elks in Warwick, where the band The Senders played.
