The 89th Duckpin National Tournament got off to patriotic start Saturday at the Meadowbrook Lanes. Over the course of the next four weekends, players from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia will compete said Al Zaraian, president of the Rhode Island Duckpin Bowlers Association. The Warwick Fire Department color guard, councilmen Steve McAllister and Tim Howe, Rep. David Bennett and Father Robert Marciano attended opening ceremonies. Noting that Meadowbrook opened in 1954, Solomon called the lanes “a cornerstone to the community.” He invited participants to enjoy the city coastline and its many restaurants.
