Members of the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Joseph Solomon and friends were in for a treat at the recent ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of Sweet Dee’s on Music Lane in Apponaug. The breakfast and lunch café also does catering, and there was no sparing of delectables as everyone gathered on the café patio. They then assembled outside the front door, where owner and baker Alicia Calci stood at Solomon’s side as he snipped the ribbon. Alicia had a 19-year career in retail clothing before transitioning her love of home baking to her own venture. She’s especially proud of her chocolate chip cookies, and she notes that corned beef is always a sellout on Saturdays and Sundays. Sweet Dee’s is closed on Mondays. (Warwick Beacon photo)
