You won’t get bored

Board games, and the people who love to play them, were the nature of Captain Con held this past weekend at the Crowne Plaza. The event attracted players from across the country, including Brendan Neuhaus, who car-pooled with fellow players from New Jersey. Unlike other game events where there are cash prizes, Neuhaus said, “We all spend money to be here and we get none of it back.” He estimated the weekend cost him in the range of $600. But the music and programming teacher’s aide was all right with that. In front of Neuhaus are the players he’s assembled – and in many instances painted – for the game Guild Ball. In some respects he likened the game to chess, but “employing everything in the mind.” A game can take 90 minutes, with movements being determined by a roll of the dice. (Warwick Beacon photos)
