All about business

Mayor Joseph Solomon stopped in at the Hilton Garden Inn (1 Thurber Street) in Warwick on Tuesday morning to chat about their ongoing improvements to the hotel, which includes six brand-new premium rooms on the first floor and plans to renovate a main lounge area near the entrance, as well at the 160 rooms throughout the rest of the floors. Hotel General Manager Bud Nolan, pictured alongside Solomon, said the hotel operates at around 87 percent occupancy this time of year, mostly catering to the business community, traveling sports leagues and wedding parties. "We're about 45 minutes from anywhere in the state," Nolan said. "So this is a great place to stay to do business." Lee Buchanan and Angela Lehmann, directors of sales for the hotel (also pictured), said that the renovations will be kicking off in November and could be finished as early as March.
