Masks with class

For years, Becky Bioty of Gaspee Point has traveled the world for work and pleasure. As president of a jewelry manufacturing operation in Zhejiang Province, China, she alternated months between working there and then here, so she’s accustomed to airports, flights and being wedged into planes. Then when a friend suggested they fly to Aruba earlier this month, Becky thought they might have a little extra protection from this virus that at that point had people here confusing it with Corona beer. She got out a sewing machine she hadn’t used for years and went to work producing chic facemasks instead of “those ugly white things.” On return to Rhode Island, she thought she had the making of a business and is now producing three or four an hour. Her plan is to sell them on the Next Door neighborhood website and eBay for $10. (Warwick Beacon photo)
