Temperatures in the 90s made for challenging conditions as Conlon Moving, based in Seekonk, moved school administration offices from Warwick Avenue to the former Gorton Junior High School last week. By Friday, crews were ahead of schedule, having already relocated some offices from the adjoining Greene School. All administrative offices are being consolidated in Greene. In preparation for the move, school staff packed boxes that were then marked by identifying room numbers at Gorton. Here, the crew takes a Gatorade break and Jesus Castrillon and Mike Pickering make a delivery to an office. With the move completed, the next step will be sorting everything out. Upgrades in the electrical and lighting have been completed along with replacement of door latches to meet codes and renovations to rest rooms. Cox was putting finishing touches to the phone system Thursday and Superintendent Philip Thornton continues to pursue means to improve cell phone coverage to the area. A tower on the site is being explored. (Warwick Beacon photos)
