The Natasha Love Foundation for Non-Violence, founded by Rebecca Flores, recently held its 4th annual Inspiration of Love Youth Artist & Leadership Award Recognition Ceremony at the Crowne Plaza with 235 people in attendance and raising more than $25,000. The foundation was formed in 2008 after Natasha's unfortunate slaying earlier that year at the hands of another teen. Foundation efforts focus on introducing and nurturing interest in the arts among youth and teens, especially those experiencing negative, potentially harmful emotions. The foundation opens peaceful art-oriented doors to help resolve issues that cause teen stress and anxiety and help build pathways to their dreams of accomplishment, career entry and success. At the event students were celebrated for their contributions including (from left) Jadelyn Santos, who received the Inspiration of Love Leadership Award for an individual who displays love and a willingness to help others regardless of who they are or what adversities they have faced; Lorraine Quintero, who received the Peace Theatre/Poetry/Song Award for propagating hope in others through poetry and acting and promoting peace in our world; Sany Ramirez who received the Awareness Music Award for social justice issues through education and music while simultaneously encouraging others to get involved in their community and Dalila Fabian who received the Unity Dance Award for education through dance with the intention of sending positive messages of unity.
