In memory of Catherine T. Murray

The Ocean State Center for Independent Living, OSCIL, conducted its 31st annual meeting Tuesday morning at the Warwick Public Library. A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of five Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarships to students with disabilities. Catherine was a great supporter of all attaining a college degree. Her belief and emphasis was always that a degree should be the catalyst in the pursuit and achievement of a career goal. Scholarship recipients (back row from left) are Isobel McCullough, a student at URI; Ryan Fleming, a student at RIC; Courtney Cardenas, a Toll Gate senior who plans to attend URI and Victoria Dolby, a student at East Bay Collaborative who plans to attend MTTI. Making the presentations was Michelle Machado, foreground, who works at OSCIL and is a former scholarship recipient. Unable to attend was the fifth recipient, Hannah Igoe a student at The University of Rhode Island. (Submitted photo)
