Wearing the club’s new t-shirts, 11 students and two chaperones attended the Pilgrim High School Political Involvement (Pil-PI) Club’s two-hour field trip to the Rhode Island State House in Providence on Tuesday. A vivacious Rhode Island College student, Emily Fisher, their tour guide, pointed out particulars about the architecture, the Senate Gallery, the House of Representatives Gallery, the cannon in the entryway and The Charter Room. The club was most impressed by the meaning behind RI’s Hope Flag Emblem: “Hope is the Anchor to our Soul.” Included in the photo (starting from the bottom row) is Marcus Prezioso, club advisor and co-founder Paula Merdink, club president Zachary Lafontaine; (middle row) Brycen Miller, James hunt, Alex Higgins, Fernando Jeronimo, Ryan Sanita; (back row) Kristina Boiano, Victoria O’Leary, Victor Abad and Kashton Fielding. Want to make change in politics? Become a lobbyist for someone with deep pockets. Otherwise you are spitting into the wind. Even the news media, both fake and real, focus on how much money people raise an not any issues they may be talking about. Kids, get rich if you want to make a change in Amerika.
