On October 2 Friends of Warwick Ponds, in collaboration with the RI Tree Council, completed a tree planting project. Three Warwick Pond residents participated in the planting of nine trees. Friends of Warwick Ponds believe this action is a token of what can be accomplished if this initiative is expanded to all Warwick residents. As a part of efforts to advocate for Clean Warwick Water, the group plans to join with the RITree Council, Mayor Avedisian, and the Warwick City Council to develop a tree planting program for all Warwick residents. Here, Philip Dercole, president of Friends of Warwick Ponds and Craig Hotchkiss, RI Tree Council Community Project Coordinator, plant one of the nine trees. (Submitted photo)

Friends of Warwick Ponds is an honorable organization that truly cares about the health of Warwick's water resources. I am a proud member, and if you also care about preserving the lakes and ponds of Warwick, maybe you should come to one of the meetings. Call Phil Dercole at 301-4982 or e-mail him at c.dercole@cox.net

Hope to see you at the next meeting (at the Warwick Public Library on Sandy Lane).

    Happy Autumn everyone.

    Rick Corrente
