A truckload carrying more than 1,300 pumpkins (not counting the small ones that were by the box full) arrived Saturday afternoon from New Mexico at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on West Shore Road. With help from volunteers, parishioners spread the gourds on the church lawn as they have done for the last seven years. The pumpkins are acquired through the Navajo Land Support program and proceeds from their sale help the church and the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center. Pumpkin prices are based on their size. Nothing goes to waste with whatever pumpkins left over after Oct. 31 going to a pig farm. The pumpkin patch is open for sales Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday 12 to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
