In a gesture of appreciation for the hospitality they received during their national show held at the Crowne Plaza and for the lifesaving measures they can provide to pets, the Irish Setters Club of America presented the Warwick Fire Department with six per resuscitation kids during their national show last week. The kits contain oxygen masks of different sizes to fit over the muzzles of dogs, mouths of cats and even bird beaks. Karolynne McAteer, show chair, said the club received a warm welcome from Rhode Island. “Everybody was friendly, the food is great…and there are good bars.” Club president Heidi Laabs said the club’s goal is to foster responsible breeding of the dog that is trained to hunt and flush birds and to recognize, just like so many dogs, they are pets that make up the family and enjoy catching a Frisbee.
