More than 70 people gathered at the State House Thursday to witness Gov. Gina Raimondo sign a proclamation declaring Direct Support Professionals Week. Raimondo said the professionals are deserving of pay increases and that she is working to make that happen. “I’m inspired by the work you do. You have dedicated your lives to helping those with developmental disabilities.” Maria Delgato, who has worked the past nine years for Access Point RI based in Cranston – seen standing behind the governor – and Donna Martin CEO of Community Provider Network of Rhode Island (CPNRI) also spoke at the ceremony.
