An impromptu visit to St. Rose of Lima School where a reporter/photographer was welcomed into the classroom found first graders engaged in an accelerator reading program and fourth graders working on personal narrative writing. As it turned out, the Beacon wasn’t the only observer. A couple from the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT) based at Providence College was evaluating Katelin Thomson as she worked with fourth graders. Remarkably, students in both classes were so engaged in their work as to pay no heed to the visitors…well, maybe not all the time. Some smiled for the camera. (Warwick Beacon photos by John Howell)
