Retired Providence Fire Chief George Farrell, chairman of the Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub, honored Jack Thomas with a citation Saturday prior to the Honor Flight departure to Washington, DC. Thomas, who was a Providence firefighter retiring as chief after 28 years, has served as chief of the Green Airport fire department for the past 18 years. He is retiring at the age of 65, and Farrell thanked him and his crew for all they have done for honor flights. Airport crews salute departing honor flight with a water cannon salute.
