Donation to benefit art therapy

Warwick resident Anthony Bucci Jr. recently presented Thrive Behavioral Health with a private donation of just under $6,000. The funds will be used to provide art supplies and workshop opportunities for Thrive's Youth and Family's art therapy groups. Art therapy has long been proven to help individuals of any age overcome negative situations, disabilities and trauma. Participants in art therapy programs report improved well-being, lowered anxiety and stress levels, increased self-awareness and self-esteem, strengthened relationships, and enhanced social skills. Bucci's generous donation will allow Thrive to purchase much needed art supplies and educational materials that are well beyond the scope of the nonprofit organization's budget. His gift will also provide youths with the opportunity to enhance their individual development and growth by participating in workshops in ceramics, photography, writing and music. Here, Tony Bucci presents his donation to Laura Scussel, Thrive's Early Childhood, CFIT & Outpatient Services program manager. Also pictured are Sarah Channing, Thrive's Director of Development & Digital Media (left) and Thrive's president & CEO Dan Kubas-Meyer (right). (Submitted photo)
