Just the touch she needed

Heather Clark (right), a first grade teacher at Randall Holden School, will be able to give her students some extra thanks to the efforts of Colleen Collins (left), owner of Tranquil Touch Aesthetics Boutique in East Greenwich. Aware of how much of their own funds teachers put into buying supplies for their classrooms, Colleen wanted to help, and when her business was the winner of a $1,000 Sam’s Club and Walmart gift card from the SCORE Foundation she used it to buy nesting reading chairs and other supplies for Heather’s class. “She’s the epitome of a first grade teacher,” Colleen said of Heather, “kind and loving.” The gift also fits with the “give to live” credo of Tranquil Touch that monthly provides its services free to a cancer survivor or caregiver. Colleen said the business was one of two in the state to receive the SCORE award and that as a state winner the company is now entered in the national contest for a $25,000 award, which she plans on winning. And should that happen, she said, she would be able to help out so many more. Heather was touched by the gifts and what they will mean for her students. It bought tears to her eyes.
