Saluting our veterans

A special wreath

The Warwick Veterans Council, elected city officials and veterans and family members joined at Warwick Veterans Park at Veterans Memorial Middle School Monday morning for the placement of a wreath made from cloth cut from the fatigues of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. In his remarks, Air Force veteran James Hickey, who served during the Vietnam War and is a chaplain for the Disabled American Veterans, thanked Senator Jack Reed for helping veterans achieve recognition for their service. Mayor Joseph Solomon thanked those who have served for ensuring our freedoms. Also expressing her appreciation was Ward 6 Councilwoman Donna Travis. (Warwick Beacon photo)
