Big Check

Senior helping neighbors

Friends of Warwick Senior Centers provided a big boost to Neighbors Helping Neighbors this week with a $1,000 contribution toward the program that provides assistance to needy individuals and families during the holidays. Last year, the program provided more than 2,000 food market certificates. Since it was founded 22 years ago, the Friends have raised and donated more than $80,000 to purchase equipment for senior centers and assist programs. Neighbors Helping Neighbors is funded by donations and through programs such as dress down days conducted by city workers. It also runs a non-perishable food drive. About $24,000 is needed to run the program.
