Skin cancer screenings set at Kent Hospital

Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers; more than 600,000 Americans are affected each year, a number that is rising rapidly. It is also the easiest to cure if diagnosed and treated early. When allowed to progress, however, skin cancer can result in disfigurement and even death. To assist the public in spotting potential skin cancers, Kent Hospital is offering a free skin screening on Wednesday, May 23 and Thursday, May 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the hospital’s Outpatient Surgical Unit. There is no fee for the initial screening.

Dermatologists on staff at Kent Hospital will perform full body screenings. The program is sponsored by the hospital’s cancer program. Registration is required. Call 737-7010, extension 31857 or email lmillerick@kentri.org to reserve. Space is limited, so reserve as soon as possible.
