SORI announces 2013 HOF class


Special Olympics Rhode Island is pleased to announce the second class of inductees into the 2013 Hall of Fame. Special Olympics Rhode Island will honor athletes, individuals, families and business leaders whose exemplary support, efforts and embodiment of the spirit of Special Olympics, make a significant impact on our program and the lives of the 2,800 athletes we serve.

The 2013 inductees will be honored on February 7 at the Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony and Dinner to be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. The evening will begin with a Reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and an awards ceremony at 7 p.m.

The 2013 Inductees include:

Special Olympics Rhode Island Athletes: Joseph Connors from East Providence, Mary Irons from Cranston

Special Olympics Rhode Island Coach: Barbara Crosby, SORI Lincoln North Stars

Special Olympics Rhode Island Family: The DeAngelis Family

Contributors: Clements’ Market, CVS Caremark, Kelly Gordon, Tom Peckenham, Rhode Island State Council Knights of Columbus

The 2013 inductees have contributed immensely to the successes and the spirit of Special Olympics Rhode Island. We are thankful for their leadership and for their commitment to our Movement. If anyone would like to attend the dinner and celebrate the dedication and contributions of these inductees to our organization, tickets for the event can be purchased for

$60 per person and $30 for SORI athletes. Included in the ticket is the reception and a dinner.
