If the old adage “Good things come in threes” holds true to form, Saturday’s St. Barnabas Church Holiday Bazaar could be the best in recent memory.

For starters, the annual pre-Christmas shopping event will be a celebration of two anniversaries, one for Chairperson Emily Seddon and the other for St. Barnabas’ pastor, Rev. Scott R. Lee.

“Our bazaar is the church’s largest fundraiser of the year,” said Seddon, who is chairing the event for the third time in as many years after assuming that role from her mother Heidi Seddon. “And I certainly want to deliver success.”

For Father Lee, the holiday bazaar will be his third at St. Barnabas after moving his family from a parish in Oklahoma to his current home at the Apponaug-based church and taking up residence in Warwick.

“The St. Barnabas Bazaar is a wonderful opportunity for our parish to engage the community,” Father Scott offered. “Historically, the church has been very involved in what happens in the Warwick area and the Christmas bazaar is a great way for people to come together to remember how important it is to be in the community.”

Perhaps that’s why so many of proud parishioners at St. Barnabas have offered their untiring support – and talents – to help make the 2019 Christmas Bazaar bigger and better than those of year’s past.

“Our bazaar wouldn’t be what it is without each person’s contributions, whether it be baking sweet greats or preparing lunch, knitting or crocheting for our handmade table craft table,” Seddon emphasized. “Our parishioners do it all; they even help run the concession and work behind the scenes, everyone has an intricate role.”

So it’s all systems go for Saturday’s St. Barnabas Christmas Bazaar that will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the parish’s Schweitzer Hall and will feature something special for people of all ages.

“We’ll have our usual tables – penny social, baked goods, handmade crafts, religious items, Christmas gifts to-go and main raffle,” Seddon explained.” This year we will offer a face painting table and we have some great items for our main raffle including a family four pack to the Mystic Aquarium, Keurig and Dunkin Donuts coffee pods, Amazon Echo, air fryer and handmade Afghan blanket.”

There will also be a White Elephant Room that Seddon said “is packed with treasures awaiting a new home and I’m certain our lunch menu will satisfy all who come through our doors.”

Saturday’s Christmas Bazaar, Seddon said with a special smile on her face, “is that our newest offering is that we are accepting VISA and MasterCard payments. I anticipate another beautiful turnout from the community and as always we look forward to meeting new folks here at St. Barnabas.”
