The Pilgrim girls’ basketball team got in the win column on Monday evening, withstanding a game-high 26 points from Central’s Jada Littlejohn to secure a 55-45 victory over the Knights.

The Pats grabbed their second win in their last four games thanks in large part to an impressive first half, as Pilgrim took a 13-point lead, 31-18, into halftime.

Behind the play of Littlejohn, Central was able to outscore the Pats, 27-24, in the second half, but Pilgrim did enough to hold off the Knights for a 10-point win.

Pilgrim posted a much more balanced scoring attack than Central. Senior point guard Kat Raposo was the only Pilgrim scorer in double figures with a team-high 12 points. Mary Mullane added nine points, while Caitlyn Fallon posted eight points, Jeriann Evans, Crystal Armstrong and Kailey Giarusso each scored six, and Mackenzie Hough added five.

Pilgrim (4-11) has three regular season games left.

It will travel to Mount St. Charles on Friday evening for a 7 p.m. start.

Pilgrim is then set to host unbeaten Johnston at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

The Pats also have to play Classical after the initial meeting between the two teams was postponed due to weather on Sunday. As of press time, the game hadn’t been rescheduled.
