Students donate cherished Halloween candy

As we honor veterans on Veterans Day, the words of John Fitzgerald Kennedy capture how we should best honor our nation’s heroes. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” The Holliman community exemplified the true meaning of this quote as they showed their support for our nation’s brave military and veterans. They were asked to donate their Halloween candy and make thank you cards for Operation Gratitude, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to those who serve our country. Operation Gratitude has been able to send over 2 million care packages filled with items donated by grateful Americans and service-friendly companies. They wouldn’t be able to do the amazing things they do without the support of generous donations from students, families and business organizations. Holliman students collected and donated a staggering 184 pounds of candy accompanied with hand made thank you cards. These items were delivered to Pezza Orthodontics, an official collection center for Operation Gratitude. Pictured here with donations is Dr. Gregory Pezza. If you would like to see Operation Gratitude in action or support this wonderful organization year round, be sure to check out their website, www.operationgratitude.com
