Thanks to the coronavirus, those of us who frequently dine out have lost one of our great pleasures in life. But there are options.
The first, obviously, is to get out the yellow-paged cookbooks, find the aprons, check out that cabinet filled with herbs and spices you haven’t opened in ages, and actually cook a meal.
The second is to drive up to the fast food chains and order those burgers and fries.
The third is to order pizza or Chinese delivery.
Let’s take a closer look at option 4.
Many of our favorite restaurants have closed down and sent their employees home, but there are a number of fine restaurants that have repositioned themselves to prepare many of their menu options for takeout and, where possible, delivery.
The Greater Chamber of Commerce has included a number of restaurants offering these services on their website. In many cases, you can go to the restaurant’s website, or just give them a call.
Please consider tipping the delivery person or employee who hands you your takeout meal. Restaurants, in many cases, are offering discounts and even losing money on takeout orders, and waitpersons are missing out on the generous 20 percent tips.
Here are a few Cranston and Warwick restaurants that responded quickly, offering takeout and/or delivery: CRANSTON:
Caffe Itri
Chaska
Revolution
Thirsty Beaver
Dee’s Deli
Revival Brewing
Thomaselli’s WARWICK:
Condessa
Cowesett Inn
Cozy Caterers
Shannon View Inn
Sophia’s
Vanda Cucina Texas Roadhouse and Newport Creamery in both Cranston and Warwick
And don’t forget those great prepared meals at Dave’s Market.
