Teaming up to fight cancer
Toll Gate senior Graham Reed Mann Jr. “RJ” was the force behind a daylong rag ball tournament held at the Continental Little League field. The Gloria Gemma Foundation and the Rhode Island Chapter of Pink Heals joined in to help RJ raise more than $700 to fight breast cancer. RJ planned the event as his senior project, gaining the assistance of Nujona Bryan of Nu World Event Planning, who served as his mentor. Donations of food and beverages helped the fundraising cause and friends and family volunteered to man concessions and assist. RJ said it was the loss of several family members to breast cancer that prompted him to select the cause. JR (in yellow shirt) is seen here with the two finalist teams. He wants to become a physician and will be attending the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services in the fall.
