Techno teens

Tomorrow, Warwick Career and Technical Center seniors Francisco Mendoza, 17, of Toll Gate and Nickolas Osborne, 17, of Pilgrim will partake in round three of the 2012 NetRiders event, a program endorsed by Cisco Systems that will put their technological skills to the test through problem solving and troubleshooting techniques. From 1 to 5 p.m., the boys will compete as a duo against more than 50 teams from throughout the country, as well as the Canada provinces, via webex, a computer program similar to Skype, and complete a two-part test. While they are looking forward to the competition, they are also eager to start college, as both students hope to attend Johnson & Wales University. Mendoza, who has been interning at OSHEAN, a non-profit coalition of universities, hospitals, government agencies and other non-profit organizations dedicated to providing innovative Internet-based technology solutions, plans to study network engineering, and Osborne is debating between taking up either network or software engineering.
