Posted by kking2017

Noted author and psychotherapist Lynn Lyons leads discussion on “breaking the worry cycle” in children and families.

As part of its ongoing educational series for parents and caregivers, the Gordon School will host psychotherapist and author Lynn Lyons, who specializes in the treatment of anxious children and their parents, and is the co-author of ‘Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents.’ Returning to Gordon for a second time, Lyons’ discussion will focus on how to combat anxiety, high-pressure situations, and the challenges our children face during daily life.

Her talk with parents will focus on concrete strategies to “break the worry cycle” and help all parents raise courageous and independent children. Lyons will illustrate how anxiety is treatable when families understand how it works. She will lead student and faculty workshops at Gordon during the day.

The event is free and open to the public and will include a Q&A session. Parents are invited to submit questions before the event. Please submit questions and RSVP at www.gordonschool.org/llyons

Founded in 1910, Gordon provides a rigorous multicultural curriculum spanning all disciplines. Students come to understand that each academic skill has purposeful application in the world in which they live and gain the capacity to understand things from multiple perspectives. The goal is for students to see the world as it is from different points of view, to develop a strong sense of self and purpose, and to carry the ability to bring about positive change into their adult lives.
