Theatre Works, Inc. opens reservations for ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum’
Reservations are now open for “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” Theatre Works’ third show of their 29th season.
This hilarious musical, written by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart with music by Stephen Sondheim, focuses on Pseudolus, a slave in ancient Rome, and his desperate attempt to win his freedom by helping his young master, Hero, earn the love of the courtesan, Philia. The show is filled with slapstick, mayhem and lots of great music. Connie Anderson (Woonsocket) directs – Mary Jo Rett (Uxbridge) handles the musical.
The forum features:
Edward Benjamin III (Cumberland) as Pseudolus;
Shelly Whittle (Providence) as Hysterium;
Kevin Fish (Woonsocket) as Hero;
Frankie Gallucci (Wakefield) as Philia;
David Schrag (Providence) as Senex;
Lisa Forsgard (North Attleboroo) as Domina;
Christopher Kibbe (North Attleborough) as Marcus Lycus;
Joseph Casey (Bellingham) as Miles Gloriosus;
Frank O’Donnell (North Providence) as Erronius; and
Mark Anderson (Woonsocket) as Erronius (March 17 only).
Rounding out the cast as The Proteans are Bethany Giammarco (Warwick), Lynn Nadrowski (Providence) and Bill Beatini (Providence); and The Courtesans are Lydia Mattera, Katrina Claflin and Karen DiOrio (all of Cumberland), Nicole Cayer (North Providence), and Jessica Albaum (Pawtucket).
Show dates are Fridays and Saturdays, March 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. and Sundays, March 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. Theatre Works is located at 142 Clinton St., Woonsocket. Tickets are $18 and $15. Reservations can be made by calling Theatre Works at 766-1898. Visit www.twri.org.
