Thompson named development director at Women's Resource Center
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) recently announced the hiring of Gregory Thompson as the new director of development. He joins the domestic violence intervention and prevention services agency, serving Newport and Bristol Counties, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. A Warwick resident, Thompson hails from Holyoke, Massachusetts.
Thompson has several years experience in non-profit fundraising, event planning, and sponsorship recruitment, supplemented by years in retail sales and management, where he received numerous awards for sales, operations and staff training achievements. He graduated from Gateway Technical College with a Certification of Academic Completion of Business Management in 2003 and from Holyoke Community College with a Certification of Academic Completion of Psychology in 2005.
“Gregory’s background in creatively recruiting donors, corporate sponsors and volunteers, while managing successful fundraisers, exhibits the energetic multitasking we need to harness, as we forge ahead to further increase public awareness about domestic violence, and continue to advocate for and actively support abused individuals and their families,” Lori DiPersio, executive director of the Women’s Resource Center said in a release.
The Women’s Resource Center will be holding its annual meeting breakfast on October 4, 2017 at Hotel Viking in Newport taking a few moments to acknowledge how the Center has evolved in the last 40 years since they first opened their doors and hearts to abused women and renewing their commitment to advocating for the inspirational women they have met.
