At the cross country state championships at Ponaganset High School on Sunday, La Salle retained both team titles, and D.J. Principe (La Salle) and Ellie Lawler (South Kingstown) outpaced their respective fields once again.
Warwick was represented well, however.
Toll Gate junior Nik Reygadas was the top runner in either race from Warwick, securing Second Team All-State with a ninth-place finish, posting a time of 16 minutes, 31 seconds.
Hendricken earned itself second as a team, finishing 35 points behind the Rams as five runners placed inside the top 20.
Jordan Dagrin paced Hendricken in 10th, crossing the finish line in a time of 16 minutes, 32.2 seconds. Aidan Tierney (13) and Max Waite (16) weren’t far behind, and Sean Meehan (19), Jon Iamarone (20) and Dan Ruggiero (21) all ran great races, as well, to secure Hendricken’s runner-up finish.
Nick Cehelsky of Toll Gate also finished inside the top 50, earning 46th with a time of 17 minutes, 13 seconds.
On the girls’ side, Toll Gate junior Sophia Maynard was the only Warwick runner to finish inside the top 50, placing 27th in a time of 20 minutes, 21 seconds.
