Transportation Public Workshop Series #1: Discovery and Outreach

Posted by statewideplanning

Do you often get stuck in traffic and want to talk about solutions?

Want to discuss ways to improve transit in Rhode Island?

Do you want to talk about how to improve the bike and pedestrian network in your neighborhood?

Do you want to discuss ways the State should address driverless cars?

If Yes – Department of Administration’s Division of Statewide Planning is holding a series of public workshops to talk to the residents and business owners about how we can improve Rhode Island’s transportation network together.

These public workshops will help set future transportation priorities as part of the Rhode Island Moving Forward 2040 Plan. The Department of Administration’s Division of Statewide Planning is managing this transportation planning initiative in partnership with RIDOT and RIPTA. The Rhode Island Moving Forward 2040 Plan is the state’s guide for future transportation investments in all modes over the next 20 years—bicycle, pedestrian, bus, car, train.

According to Rhode Island Division of Statewide Planning Director Parag Agrawal, “We are trying to improve Rhode Island’s transportation network, and this Plan is essential. This Plan will give recommendations on how the State can make transportation investments to leverage additional economic development opportunities – to create more jobs. How can we better link Providence to Boston and to New York.”

As part of the process, Statewide Planning is also developing a Bicycle Mobility Plan and a Transit Master Plan that will give recommendations to improve the state’s bicycle and transit network.
