The Motion Picture Production Code was established to take the immorality out of movies and make Hollywood pictures safe.
See four films that show what movies were like before the Code at Warwick Public Library on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
On October 4, watch "Red Headed Woman" (1932), starring Jean Harlow and Charles Boyer. Working class redhead Lil Andrews seduces her boss and a coal baron in an attempt to join the upper class.
On October 11, the library will air "Gold Diggers of 1933" (1933), starring Joan Blondell and Dick Powell. Wealthy songwriter Brad Richard's family objects when he befriends three unemployed showgirls.
On October 18, see "Baby Face" (1933), starring Barbara Stanwyck and George Brent. Gold digger Lilly Powers climbs to the top of the Gotham Trust Company by seducing and discarding man after man.
On October 25, come for "Footlight Parade" (1933), starring James Cagney and Joan Blondell. Musical comedy producer Chester Kent creates lavish and racy song and dance numbers for NYC cinemas.

They better have somebody checking IDs to make sure that no miners are harmed by these films.
Shocking. With them getting away with these films, next round will be "Deep Throat" and "Beyond the Green Door".

Dear Justanidiot,
I doubt that the ethics of the Warwick Library would allow that. I saw Red Headed Woman many years ago. The sexy scenes in Jean Harlow's "Red Headed Woman" are tame by modern standards, in my opinion. Or do you disagree?
