Unfair discredit to Warwick schools

Posted

To the Editor:

The Warwick Beacon’s large front page article “Ladouceur requests RIDE investigation of special education” (11/8/16) was a disgraceful affront to our beautiful students and deserves to be condemned.

In my opinion, Mr. Ed Ladouceur is an egotistical bully whose neverending campaign to discredit and bring harm to the Warwick School Department is beyond contempt. What he is doing to our students, especially our special education students, is beyond the pale and cruel.

I received a call from a parent who also might have been a teacher with a special education daughter. She stated that what Councilman Ladouceur has been attempting to accomplish was also having a detrimental affect on parents as well as their children. She wondered if he could sink any lower.

Eugene A. Nadeau

Vice Chairman,

Warwick School

Committee

Mr. Nadeau is spot on. Mr. Ladosceur has done nothing to control the runaway overtime at the fire dept.,WSA mismanagement and has yet to do anything about our unfunded healthcare obligations.

Hey Eddie take care of your house first before you stick your nose into school affairs.

    I was there.

I was at the special education meeting sponsored by Ed Ladouceur and his group. I listened to witness after witness speak out against the unethical and illegal treatment of our special needs students and teachers.

If Mr. Nadeau has nothing to fear he should welcome the investigation to clear his name. Judging by the way he is attacking the idea of an investigation, as well as the comments he has written, he has a LOT be be afraid of. I heard a teacher say at the meeting that she was ordered NOT to call 911 even if she felt it was necessary. THAT is what I call "pale and cruel".

Ladouceur is not a "bully...beyond contempt", he is an unthanked champion protecting teachers and students at no benefit at all to himself. That is the true definition of a "public servant".

If "Reality" has a problem with that, he can offer a better solution to the growing special education problem. If not, I wish he would just shut up. He is part of the problem, not the solution.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

    Hi Richard

It's obvious by the election totals people overwhelmingly told you to shut up. You sold yourself to Travis, Vella-Wilkinson and others and they sold you down the river. So much for your judgement.

It's amazing that you presented yourself as a fiscal expert and yet you haven't paid your taxes to the city.

How quickly Reality forgets that it was Ladouceur/Solomon/Merolla who made an unsuccessful motion to cut $800k from the firefighters OT during the last budget hearings. Dont let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Nadeau and Furtado should double the budget of the PR firm they hired to improve the school committee's public image because the stench of the Atoyan cover up, the consolidation debacle, the special ed scandal - among so many other blemishes on his record, must we have them working overtime.

Heres an idea Eugene, get yourself back to the negotiating table and get the teacher contract done or RESIGN. Better idea, just resign. This school committee is completely incompetent and this letter is yet another example of it.

Once again I submit publicly available facts:

As indicated in the State of RI Dept. of Education Rhode Island report card that was published in October 2013. Of 40 public high schools in the state of RI, Warwick's 3 rank 28, 30, and 32 out of 40. The average graduating math proficiency was noted at 17% and graduating science proficiency noted at 11%.

In any business anywhere, if the management results were those kinds of numbers, heads would roll, along with numerous pink slips.

Due to the quality of education in Warwick, coupled with the failing structures and inadequate dedication and resources, I had to pay $120,000 for 2 students to go to private high school. As far as I am concerned, the teachers contract should be commensurate with the product that they deliver. Slash the benefits, increase healthcare copay's, dramatically reduce sick time, and start sending out the pink slips !!! In addition to paying $120,000 for high school, I, unlike other people, paid my taxes on time and in full, every quarter since I became a home owner in this stink hole called Warwick.

    Ward5resident,

If Ladouceur/Solomon/Merolla attempted to make a cut to the well known WFD overtime abuses, don't you think that they would have the temerity to institute an investigation into the abuses? Certain residents have completed all of the necessary research, all the documents are in, the WFD chief has no other documents to offer to suggest otherwise, why haven't they done the due diligence to get the investigation underway? Maybe it could be that deep down, no one wants to expose a RICO situation.

Why did the school department hire villans to teach children? If these are valid points, the school committee and school department are to blame. The school department needs to take responsibility, fire everyone and be more selective in the hiring process moving forward. You can't keep criminals and villans in a classroom with children!!!! Perhaps, you should get your teaching degree, Mr. Nadeau, and demonstrate how to do it better. Writing a letter to the local paper isn't effective in making a difference. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Mr. Nadeau, You always claim that Mr Ladouceur is a "egotistical bully" what you do not realize is that as a councilman and a servant to the public that has elected him he is responsible and so are the other 8 members and the Mayor to protect our children and the finances of the city. How is this being a egotistic bully? People have contacted him and asked him to champion this quest because of the in action of the school committee for many years now. The city because of this in action is open to a lawsuit if these parents ever got together and had a resource to file it the city would be liable for millions and millions of dollars. Do you want to pay that? Mr Ladouceur is a model of what a elected official should be, He goes after and asks the tough questions that no one else will. Where you at the Special Ed meeting in city hall? Was anyone from the school department there? Was there anyone from the school committee there to hear these stories of angst among Parents, teachers, school psychologist, and general public tax payers? The answer to 2 of the questions is NO!!! The 3rd question yes Karen Bachus was in attendance and was the only member, Keep in mind this was an open meeting that was announced in plenty of time. These parents have had enough and every member of the committee and the administration needs to be held accountable. THE FACT IS YOUR LAST STATEMENT TELLS EVERYONE HOW OUT OF TOUCH YOU REALLY ARE. 2018 CAN NOT COME SOON ENOUGH FOR THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION. OUT WITH THE ONES WHO HAVE CONSTANTLY AND REPEATEDLY COVERED UP ISSUES PERTAINING TO OUR STUDENTS. i THINK ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL SHOULD GET BEHIND ED AND RUN THIS COMMITTEE OUT OF TOWN!!! THANKS

    Dear Councilman-elect Rainey,

First let me begin by noting the obvious. It is very clear that you are have been educated in the Warwick school system as your punctuation, misspelling, fractured sentence structure, and lack of basic grammatical structure is indicative of our public school education quality. God help us now that you are on the council. I can only pray to God that in his infinite wisdom, what you lack in articulation skills, he has made up by giving you some knowledge as to how to read a balance sheet.

Having stated the obvious, you have come out of no where (and you should also study the use of the two words "where" and "were") to run for office having no standing in the community other than taking $450 from the firefighter union. I guess that means you will take up where Vella left off. What I call "UNION FELLATIO".

It is my opinion that the members of the city council need to mind their own business. (other words for you to study "their, there, and they're) Since they have not been able to control any aspect of the budget, they need to focus on that as the priority. You need to stifle your outbursts, as butchered commentary which you have just offered, is indicative of a person who can be defined as feckless. The only comment that I have heard you make in public was an offensive outburst against Mr. Merolla when he smiled during the National Anthem because he was listening to the Former council liaison sing the song on the recording.

Being from the Vella Wilkinson cult does not grant you respect, nor does being elected, state anything about your finance skills or problem solving capabilities. What is clear already, is that due to your accepting of union contributions, coupled with letters that are being sent out harassing people like myself and mentioning your name within said letters, that you are compromised even before you have taken the oath of office.

I would be careful about who you get into an intellectual war with, as in debates, there are no handicaps, as are in golf.

    Mr. Rainey,

I would also suggest for you to study the prepositions. Another lacking skill indicative of the Warwick Public School system. Proper use may enhance the level of cognitive thought that you try to put forth. Prepositions, as I remember from private school.

Mr. Nadeau hates teachers, period. Look at his record, any vote either hurt teachers at the expense of students or he refused to sign a contract, even if he was the only one. Under his watch we have had 5 superintendents in 5 years, a situation that has created no leadership on Warwick Ave. Time for a change, #nogene2018.

Gene Nadeau is an absolute moron who sits on his hands when there are issues in the schools in his ward. His puppet strings from Thorton are tight so he just does what his puppeteer says. Warwick schools have major issues in all areas and with the incompetent administration and school committee were have it won't get any better. Nadeau has said he wants music and a ridiculous field for Warwick, well maybe we should forget the field and build new buildings and fix the mess that was created with consolidation, but that might be to hard for Nadeau to comprehend, I think Nadeau should be condemned for his lack of attention to the children.
