With the open enrollment period for 2019 Medicare coverage set to begin on Oct. 15, United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) has scheduled five Saturday events to help Rhode Islanders who need assistance enrolling or making changes to their health and prescription plans. Each event will be held at UWRI’s office at 50 Valley Street in Providence from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the following Saturdays, Oct. 20 and 27; Nov. 3 and 10th and Dec. 1.
During the open enrollment events, Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors will be available to meet one-on-one and confidentially with individuals to answer questions about coverage and plan options, and to provide assistance with enrollment. There is no cost to attend the events, but those interested in receiving assistance must make an appointment in advance by calling 2-1-1 or The POINT at 464-4444.
Those attending an open enrollment are asked to bring the following documents and information to assist in the enrollment process: identification; Medicare card and any additional health insurance cards; and a list of prescription medications currently being taken.
Rhode Islanders unable to attend UWRI’s scheduled Saturday events may call 2-1-1 or The POINT at 464-4444 for information on additional Medicare enrollment assistance.
