Vets wins four titles in Conn.


The Warwick Vets wrestling team traveled to Willimantic, Conn., over the weekend for the Lancer Invitational and came home with four first-place medals.

John Altieri beat Mike Ruffino of Windham, Conn., by a 6-4 score for the crown at 113. Nate Colicci beat Brian Manes of Jonathan Law High School in Connecticut by a 4-1 score at 120. George Schmeider captured the title at 160 with a 6-5 victory over Windham’s Devyn Petsa, and Devin Hurst took the crown at 170 with a pin of Cumberland’s Bill Spaziano. Hurst finished the tourney with three pins in just three minutes, 25 seconds.

Cumberland won the team title. Vets finished seventh.
