The Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) will host Lunch and Learn Workshops on Wednesday, July 26 from 12 to 2 pm at OSCIL’s Warwick office at 1944 Warwick Avenue, Warwick (the Beacon Building) and Thursday, July 27 from 12 to 2 pm at their offices at 175 Main Street in Pawtucket.

Damian Eannarino, Cox Homelife/Field Service Supervisor, will be discussing how video, internet, and telephonic services work with assistive technology to help enhance the consumer’s overall experience.  He will be demonstrating the new Contour 2 remote control with a single button, which allows the user to speak the action they wish the box to accomplish (very similar to Siri).

Also on display/demonstration will be TV listeners, Captel phone, Alert Master, large print keyboard, closed captions on TV, screen magnifier, and Dragon Naturally Speaking.

As part of OSCIL’s outreach and community education initiative, OSCIL offers these free “Lunch and Learn” workshops highlighting various solutions that can increase access in your home and community.

A sign language interpreter and CART (provided by Hamilton Relay) have been secured for this event.

Advance registration is required; call 738-1013 if you plan to attend either session. Seating is Limited. Lunch (pizza) will be served.

United Way’s 211 Outreach RV will also be onsite at our Warwick location on June 28 to answer questions on other resources and services available in Rhode Island.
