United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) recently announced four new hires to its staff. Mary Ann Canavan has been named EVP, Chief Financial Officer; Brooke Havens hired as EVP, Chief Development Officer; April Garcia welcomed as Director of Human Resources; and Marlene Guay as Grants and Initiatives Manager for Expanded Learning.
Brooke Havens is UWRI’s new Executive Vice President, Chief Development Officer. Most recently, she was VP, Senior Public Affairs Market Manager, Rhode Island and Connecticut, for Citizens Bank, and previously worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of RI as program manager, Community Relations and CSR. Her extensive professional experience has focused on both nonprofit fundraising and supporting for-profit organizations as they develop their corporate social responsibilities and strategies. A resident of Warwick, Brooke holds a master’s in nonprofit management from Northeastern University, and a B.A. in political science from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Her UWRI position became effective on June 17.
