Why we live in Warwick

Posted

To the Editor:

On July 3 I returned home from work to a nice surprise: American flags on my neighbors' lawns and on my own. I saw online John Morgan of Slocum Realty donated the flags and the neighborhood children in Greenwood helped deliver them. This small, kind gesture is yet another example of the strong and active community we have here in Warwick.

Last month the community gathered for an outstanding Gaspee Day Parade, along with an arts and crafts festival and block party. An impressive fireworks display was put on in Oakland Beach this past Fourth of July weekend.

Looking ahead, Warwick has summer concerts, food truck nights, movies in the park, the 50th Anniversary Moon Landing Parade, charity runs, and a myriad of other events planned-all opportunities to come together, enjoy the summer weather, and celebrate.

Considering all the recent headlines about the city, and acknowledging that we have a lot to improve, as we work together to address our fiscal situation, I think it is important to remember all the reasons why we choose to live in Warwick.

Outstanding people make up our community. These are people who go out of their way to strengthen our neighborhoods. I look forward to seeing people out and about at all the fun events planned for the summer.

    Hey POM POM Boy,

Don't you realize that anyone who follows finance meetings knows how much you are out of your element ? You run around the city saying how great things are. Can't you read a balance sheet?

No one will ever forget your statement at budget hearings....we don t need a 5 year forecast. How idiotic !!!

    Steve,

Do you think that the food truck night will make senior citizens forget that they got $600 - $1000 tax increases? Do you think that people will forget the dumb questions that you asked at budget hearings which show that you clearly have zero knowledge of the current contracts and the obligations of them? You have failed to do the simplest of research before you open your mouth and make a fool of yourself. I almost miss Usler. At least she entertained the residents with her circus attire.

Why do we need a 5 year projection? Your words just before you stroked the unions and voted to give away another 3 million in raises that we couldn't afford. But you continue have the photo ops with Joe. Where is your cheerleader uniform? Now your council president and finance chair and your buddy Joe, hide the 5 year projection from you 4 days before you vote for contract raises. Your stupidity is overwhelming. How's things treating you now knowing that we spent $60K to get a report that was hidden that indicates that if we dont pay the minimum OPEB payment we are 52.8 million in the hole, and if we pay the minimum OPEB payment we are 130.7 million in the hole. And that's with a maximum tax increase for the next 5 years. You think you will still have a council seat then? Enjoy it now because the move to remove the dopes is happening. You will be first to go.

??? Mr. McAllister, Are you right in the head? I now believe you may be cognitively impaired and not capable of doing your job along with Jabba the hut, and the whole school committee, except for Testa. Please check in at Butler for further testing, maybe you'll see the make believe mayor? Get help...

Warwick needs some tough love! Horrible streets and roads, businesses leaving the city or state, low business environment, corrupt politics, bad schools, big financial mess ... Warwick is completely depressing:(

My 12pm prediction for the city council meeting tonight:

McAllister will vote yes to appoint Kelly McElroy as a municipal court judge because that is what Solomon wants. So McAllister will do his bidding. Even though she is the daughter of freshman councilman McElroy who is on the appointment committee, McAllister and the mayor, Rix, Howe, Sinapi and Travis have no concept of how bad the optics look.

So the vote will most likely be at least 5 -3 in favor. Mr. McAllister, as of this date DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT OPTICS ARE EVERYTHING?

Just as I predicted. MCallister and Rix ignored every person in room and appointed the two cronies. Shameful!
