Wilfred A. Lambert, 96, of Greenwich Ave., formerly of his beloved Oakland Beach, passed away peacefully March 8, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was married to the late Ethel (Dracopoulos) Lambert, the love of his life for 43 years.

Mr. Lambert was owner of the former Cozy Grill on Canal Street in Providence and was a self-employed painting contractor before retiring. He was a World War II Army veteran, where he served honorably in the European Theater. Mr. Lambert was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and their Senior Citizens Group. He was a past member of the parish council and past chairman of the house committee and received the Annunciation Laity Award and the Metropolis of Boston Laity Award.

Mr. Lambert’s passions were his family and church. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, past member of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Co. and he will be sadly missed.

He is survived by two sons, Basil P. Vaphiades and his wife, Madeline, and Theodore E. Vaphiades and his wife, Sue; eight grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; two nephews, Alfred and Robert Boudreau; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Lambert and Olive Boudreau.

His funeral was held March 12 from Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., with a service in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial with military honors was in North Burial Ground, Providence.
