Willis J. Leonard, 67, passed away surrounded by his loving family January 29, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Mary R. (Beausoleil) Leonard for 27 years.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Edward A. and Loretta (McNally) Leonard. Will was a sweeper operator for the City of Pawtucket, Public Works Department for the past 27 years and had been awarded Employee of the Year by former Mayor Robert Metivier.
He was active in sports as a child and loved NASCAR and enjoyed fishing. Will was a member of the Dusza-Almeida VFW Post 2339, Pawtucket.
A devoted husband and father, besides his wife he leaves three sons, Willis, Richard and Christopher Leonard; six stepdaughters, Nicole Martin, Robin Basara, Donna Tucker, Sheila Tucker, Kim Leo and Lisa Racine; a sister, Lois Thurston; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ruth Hamilton, Mary Popkins, Edward Leonard and Leona Kelly.
His funeral will be held Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. from William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Feb. 2 from 5-8 p.m.
