Wrath of the Titans
(Boring, muddled sequel)
Special effects and 3D do little to save this boring, muddled sequel.
Sam Worthington stars as Perseus, the half-god/half-human son of Zeus who has chosen to live like a human and raise his young son. He is summoned to save his father, who has been kidnapped and tortured in Hades by his own brother, Ares.
We meet a handful of familiar names from Greek mythology but don't learn anything about them. There's Poseidon, Kronos, the Cyclops, the winged horse Pegasus and the beautiful Andromeda. They all spend a long, tedious hour and a half running around caves, fighting monsters and each other and trying to stop the end of the world.
Most of the action is through confusing quick-cuts and darkness. There's lots of dust swirling from rocks being crushed at every turn. Battles are fought, monsters slain and what few lines there are are mumbled. This one was pure torture to sit through.
Rated PG-13 with violence.
