WWSLL holding pitcher/catcher talent development programs
The 2013 Warwick West Side Pitcher/Catcher Talent Development Program is beginning in early January and is currently accepting sign-ups.
Each player who registers will receive eight weeks of one-hour sessions at Extra Innings Warwick, as well as a t-shirt. The cost of signing up is $190 for West Side children and $250 for non-West Side children (with $60 donated to WWSLL).
For pitchers, the program will focus on position awareness, preventive maintenance (proper ways to warm up), long toss, foot work, glove and ball positions, set and throwing positions, understanding of arm angles, throwing fielding techniques and live pitching.
For catchers, it will focus on position awareness (learning to be the field commander with confidence), foot work, glove positioning, receiving, framing pitches, blocking, tag outs, relaxed stance vs. throw out stance, fielding bunts, foul ball drills and receiving live pitching.
There will be coaches that will be instrumental and beneficial for the players and the program. Former Warwick West Side players have brought this and had this program approved by the board members of Warwick West Side in order to provide the players a quality little league experience. Spots are limited and program classes will be held to a number where players are receiving the instruction needed.
Players will be placed in two groups; these groups will run for 60 minutes back-to-back. Each player will receive a t-shirt with his or her respective group color. We expect these groups to be fast paced with players looking to better themselves through hard work.
