devoted father

Franklin J. “Brother” Alberts, 77, of Shalom Drive, Warwick, and Naples, Fla., died January 31, 2010 at the Phillip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Adele (Schechter) Alberts. They were married for 53 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Harold and Gertrude (Alberts) Alberts, he lived in Warwick for three years, previously living in Cranston for 48 years. Franklin was a member of Temple Sinai. He was the devoted father of Susan Mershon and her husband, Rusty, of Cranston and Nancy Keyslay and her husband, Ralph, of Nashua, N.H. He was the dear baby brother of the late Roslyn Surdut and adored grandfather of Ilanna and Jacob Keyslay. Funeral services were held Feb. 2 in Shalom Memorial Chapel, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. Shiva will be observed at the home of Susie and Rusty Mershon, 175 Mohawk Trail, Cranston, Feb. 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Roger Williams Medical Center, 825 Chalkstone Ave., Providence, RI 02908.
