Why journalism?

There is so much misinformation in the world today, made all the worse by the fact that people usually only read headlines. Social media has taken this natural, totally human inclination and caused real damage by allowing special interests and politicians to disseminate ACTUAL FAKE NEWS through legitimate-looking websites. My entire mission in life is to try and do the best job that I can to provide fair, accurate and insightful reports so that people may become more knowledgable about the world around them.

The media at large (national news and 24-hour news channels) like to sew the message that we have never been more divided as a people than right now. I think this is BS. We simply notice each others' differences more due to our increased visibility online. If we take time to learn from one another and make attempts to understand one another, we can continue to progress towards a brighter tomorrow.
