Every Wednesday I tune in at 1 p.m. to hear Gina and her newest rules.
My business, running a bed and breakfast, has been closed since March. Her rules about people coming here and her threats of going back to phase one if we don’t “knock it off” has made it so no one wants to visit Rhode Island. You can’t even be sure that you will be one of the lucky ones that get a parking spot at our beaches if you are visiting. “The Ocean State” … not so much!
I feel like I’m 10 as she scolds us and tells us we are not doing a good job. I know exactly how her children must feel.
I’m actually doing a good job. I always wear a mask, socially distance and quite frankly, stay home a lot. I hate wearing a mask and feel claustrophobic when I’m wearing it, which is why I stay home.
Gina’s latest rules really confuse me. Now bars must close at 11 p.m. So, this virus only comes out after 11? She is effectively making it almost impossible for small bars and restaurants to remain open. This was because 20 percent of bars that were checked by the health department weren’t in compliance with her rules. Why not just make those bars close early? Instead she is punishing every bar and restaurant.
She also limited the number of people that can gather at parties back to 15. Really? I though what she wanted to do was flatten the curve. She’s done that. I wish she would stop micromanaging our lives and let us make our own decisions.
I feel sorry for the people that had vacations booked in August. I know two people that had to cancel their trips because in order to go they had to quarantine for 14 days or have an instant COVID test. The first available appointment was on Tuesday and they were scheduled to leave on Saturday. So much for her effort to help people that were traveling.
Instead of fighting for the rights of her constituents, she actually said it was a good thing that we were banned from traveling to our neighborhood states. She claimed it was a lesson for us to do better. I really can’t anymore! I’m over Gina, her rules, her scolding and her “do as I say, not as I do” attitude.
