To the Editor,
Nice article about St. Paul’s Lutheran in the Beacon. I remember reading an article years ago about Swedish immigration to New England. In it was some interesting information. It seems that the Swedish kids were so proud of their report cards they brought from their schools in Sweden, that they just had to show them to the hiring managers. How about that?
Now my maternal Irish grandparents were barely literate and had no real schooling and nothing to show for it and no fault of their own. And this was the late 19th century although the Swedes came a little later. My father’s ancestors were already here thanks to a ship called the Mayflower. Just a bit of trivia.
