A call for greater state support of schools

To the Editor,

Education and local property taxes are greatly intertwined.

I think all parties or stakeholders in the school funding  debate should work together like never before to address the continued  reliance on property taxes for most of the funding for public education.

We are near the quarter point of this century.  Action is overdue!

This is probably especially important to our smaller towns with limited financial resources and political influence. The Rhode Island State Constitution requires state legislators to promote education. Those running for this body  should explain what that means to them as well as others running for office this November.
