To the Editor,
I ask those who plan to vote in the upcoming Republican primary to consider the behavior of one of the United States Senate candidates. That candidate is Patricia Morgan of West Warwick. Mrs. Morgan is currently a state representative. Although elected on the Republican ticket she chooses not to be part of the GOP caucus in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. Voters should be remember that Mrs. Morgan lost the gubernatorial primary to then Cranston Mayor Allan Fung then supported an independent candidate. She is a proven "poor loser" and doesn't respect votes of her fellow Republicans. A historic event happened with her being removed as minority leader of her chamber. I know of no example that this happened before in Rhode Island history for not supporting your party nominee after losing the primary.
I have already voted for Mrs. Morgan's opponent Raymond McKay of Warwick by mail ballot and drop box. At the state endorsement convention neither candidate won the party endorsement as some who voted no endorsement option.
I hope candidates on the state and local level address the continued reliance on property taxes to fund public elementary and secondary education and at reduce it by using another funding mechanism. Lastly, we need to assure that the Rhode Island Board of Elections is not lopsided like the currently 6-1 Democratic majority over the sole Republican.
I close, thanking readers to consider my views.
